Gouges & Single Pallets

Gouges & single pallets are typically used for creating lines and curves on the spine and covers of leather books. These are essential to a bookbinders collection.

Bookbindesigns engrave designer sets of Gouges consisting of 20 or 40 tools. We also supply Single Lined Pallets sets of 10. Please see our catalogue for our full range.

All of our Pallets and Gouges are engraved to the highest standard. The Gouges are formed to the required curves. This makes for easy sighting when laying the tool down.

A starter sets of Pallets and Gouges are available upon request.

All of our Gouges and Pallets come complete with Ash hardwood handles and chrome ferrules. These tools require heat to make the impression onto leather. The tools work well using gold leaf, foil or simply blind embossed. The outside forms are cut closely to the design in order to improve sighting.

If the design you require is not in the catalogue, Bookbindesigns are able to make bespoke Hand Tools/Hand Stamps from artworks, photographs, PDF, AI, old leather prints or any other format you may have.
